T. A. Lowery Teachers feels very strong about students doing their best.

All students are encouraged to participate in the "Jammin Minute" initiative. "Jammin Minute is a program that students are encouraged to physically move for a minute each morning. Music is played over the PA System and students either dance or complete specific exercise moves. We have participated in this program over the last several years. The students enjoy it and look forward to it each morning.

Specials area teachers collaborate to provide themed related cross-curricular lessons.

Grade levels collaborate to afford students the opportunity to learn about different countries cultures.

All grade levels will design units of study about West Virginia.

Students are recognized for many reasons.

Character Counts and Character Kids will occur every six weeks. Students from classrooms will be recognized according to the Character Counts Pillar which is worked on in the school for that time period. Character Pillars are: Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Caring and Fairness.

Perfect Attendance is for those students who maintain perfect attendance during a six weeks.

BUG Award recognizes students who have Brought Up Grades.

Caught Doing Something Good is a recognition for any student by any staff member for doing a good deed for someone. The students are recognized every six weeks.
